Community Choir Competition

Winners to Sing at Boston Performances of
"Radio City Christmas Spectacular"

This holiday season, Boston-area choirs will have a chance to sing at the Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre prior to a performance of the "Radio City Christmas Spectacular," starring the world famous Radio City Rockettes.

Beginning September 10, videos of the participating competing choirs will be uploaded on the Citi Performing Arts Center web site (www.citicenter.org), where fans can vote for their favorites, through October 10.

Five finalist choirs will then duke it out in an acapella sing-off for a panel of judges at the Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre on Monday, October 18. The grand prize winner will perform onstage at the Citi Performing Arts Wang Theatre on Friday, December 3, prior to the opening night performance of the "Radio City Christmas Spectacular." Runner up choirs will have the opportunity to perform on alternate dates during the engagement, which runs through December 29.

By popular demand, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular" is making a return engagement for this year’s 2010 holiday season after a four-year absence. "The Christmas Spectacular "made its successful Boston debut in 2004, playing to sold-out houses and breaking box office records, ultimately performing for more than 200,000 theatergoers during its three-week run. The return engagement in 2006 repeated that success. Presented by John Hancock, the 2010 edition of "The Christmas Spectacular" will play the Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre for 53 high-kicking performances.
