FeverFest 09: FRICTION
The Inaugural Production Of
The Small Theatre Alliance of Boston

After three years under the wings of Whistler in the Dark Theatre, FeverFest Festival has been adopted by the newly formed Small Theatre Alliance of Boston. The festival has come to symbolize both an exploration of diverse theatre styles, and a coming together of disparate artists and companies to produce an evening of exciting work.

With performances scheduled from from August 6 – 16, FeverFest '09 will take place at The Factory Theatre. The theme for 2009 is "friction." The seven companies and individual artists scheduled to participate include: Veronica Barron & Company; Bright Lights & Burning Nights Old Time Circus & Traveling Road Show; Imaginary Beasts; New Exhibition Room; Phoenix Theatre Artists; This and That Theatre Company; and Whistler in the Dark.

Plays and presentations are set to include: "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life"
conceived by John J. King and Dawn M. Simmons, "The Disappearing Man & Other Sad Songs" written and music directed by John Sood, "Iron Over The Curb Or Bollywood Ending" by R.D. Murphy, "Friction of Dust" by Timothy Louis Callahan Jr., and "The Old Woman" written and directed by Lialia Chepulite.

Meg Taintor, Artistic Director at Whistler in the Dark Theatre, commented, "FeverFest has always provided a stage for a wide variety of artists and companies to come together. This collaboration led directly to the emergence of an alliance of the artists working on Boston's smaller stages. With FeverFest now in the hands of the Small Theatre Alliance of Boston, it has truly found its place in our community."

The Small Theatre Alliance of Boston is a collaborative venture of local theatre artists and companies which currently includes: Bad Habit Productions, Counter Productions Theatre Company, The Factory Theatre, Imaginary Beasts, Mill 6 Collaborative, New Exhibition Room, Orfeo Group, Theatre on Fire, Whistler in the Dark, and theatre artist John J. King.
