Cirque du Soleil's "Alegria"
At Boston's Agganis Arena
August 26 - 30

Cirque du Soleil has announced that the new "Alegría" Arena Tour will stop in town this summer for 8 shows at Boston University's Agganis Arena. Performance dates are August 26 - 30. Agganis is located at 925 Commonwealth Avenue.

Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Monday, July 6, on the Cirque du Soleil website www.cirquedusoleil.com/alegria or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

The internationally acclaimed "Alegría" has entertained more than 10 million people worldwide since its world premiere in Montreal in April 1994. In May of this year, "Alegría" embarked on a new journey, performing in arenas throughoutCanada and the United States

"Alegría" is a Spanish word that means happiness, joy and jubilation. An operatic introspection of the struggle for power and the invigorating energy of youth, "Alegría" relates the tale of strength versus weakness, the king versus his jesters, and age against youth.

With an international cast of 55 performers and musicians from 17 countries, "Alegría" showcases acrobatics including: the Synchro Trapeze and the high-energy Aerial High Bars with aerialists flying and swinging more than 40 feet above the stage; Power Track, a brilliant display of synchronized choreography and tumbling on a trampoline system hidden beneath the stage floor; and Russian Bars, featuring artists performing spectacular somersaults and mid-air turns, landing on bars perched on the shoulders of catchers.

For special access and benefits relating to all its productions, Cirque du Soleil offers the Cirque Club (www.cirqueclub.com) . Membership is free and includes advance notice of ticket availability, special offers and exclusive behind the scenes information.
