ICA
Premieres Guest Artists To Include The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (ICA) will present the regional premiere of "Spalding Gray: Stories Left to Tell," a theater piece celebrating the life and work of one of America's most revered and irreverent storytellers. Performances, scheduled February 26 - March 1, will feature a five-person ensemble with a different celebrity guest reader each evening. Showcasing the words of Spalding Gray, the production is directed by Lucy Sexton and based on a concept by Gray’s widow Kathleen Russo. Gray committed suicide in 2004. Gray was celebrated for his autobiographical monologues filled with observations, neuroses, fears and joys that resonated deeply with his audiences. He was best known for such stories as "Swimming to Cambodia," "Gray’s Anatomy" and "Monster in a Box." The 90 minute "Stories Left to Tell" explores
Gray's singular, and often incredibly humorous, quest for self-understanding,
bringing together excerpts from both renowned and never-before-seen works
that span the artist’s extraordinary career and life. An influential forum for multi-disciplinary arts, the Institute of Contemporary Art has been at the leading edge of art in Boston for 70 years. The ICA is located at 100 Northern Avenue in Boston's Seaport District. For tickets and information, call 617-478-3103 or visit www.icaboston.org. -- OnStage Boston 02/06/09
