"Legally Blonde"

"Legally Blonde: The Musical" will play The Opera House for a limited engagement October 26 - November 9.

As on Broadway, Tony Award-winning Jerry Mitchell is director and choreographer. Music and lyrics are by Harvard alums Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, with a book by Heather Hach. The show is based on the MGM comedy of the same name.

Sorority star Elle Woods isn't the kind of girl to take no for an answer. So when her boyfriend dumps her for someone more serious, she puts down her credit card and sets off to where no Delta Nu has ever gone before -- Harvard Law School. Along the way she learns that being true to who you are never goes out of style.

As previously announced, Becky Gulsvig (at left) will play the role of Elle in the national tour of the show. Gulsvig has been performing in the ensemble of "Legally Blonde" on Broadway in addition to understudying the lead role. Becky made her Broadway debut as Amber von Tussle in "Hairspray" and played Wendy in the national tour of "Peter Pan."

Fans of the MTV reality series "Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods" will recognize two faces in the touring cast. Third runner up Rhiannon Hansen will play Elle's best friend Margot, and fourth runner up Lauren Ashley Zakrin is in the ensemble in addition to understudying the role of Elle.

On Broadway, "Legally Blonde: The Musical" earned 7 Tony Award nominations, ten Drama Desk Award nominations and an Outer Critics Circle Award. Among the show's many additional honors, its original cast recording, released on Ghostlight Records, captured the #1 slot of the Billboard Cast Album chart.

Of special note: Broadway Across America-Boston will host an open captioned performed of the show on Sunday, November 9 at 2 p.m. As well, the 2 p.m. performance on Saturday, November 8, will be an audio described performance for the visually impaired.
