Smothers Brothers
To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award
At Boston Comedy Festival

The 9th Annual Boston Comedy Festival will partner with Emerson College to present a Lifetime Achievement Award to comedy legends, The Smothers Brothers. The presentation, which the Smothers Brothers will attend, will take place on September 20 at the Cutler Majestic Theatre as part of the Boston Comedy Festival Contest Finals. The Smothers Brothers, Tom and Dick, are celebrating 50 years in comedy this year.

Beginning on September 14, more than 150 comics will perform in dozens of venues around the city as the Festival showcases the best in stand-up talent from the region, as well as national headlining talent.

The Contest Preliminaries and Semi-Finals will take place at the Hard Rock Cafe in Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Ninety-six bright-eyed comics from all over the country will compete with each other to advance to the finals. Two comics from each preliminary round will advance to the Semi-Finals on Thursday and Friday, September 18 and 19. Eight comics will then proceed to the Finals at the Cutler Majestic on September 20, competing for $10,000 in prize money.

Other shows and elements in the festival will be announced soon. The Festival is sponsored by Comcast and Southwest Airlines.
