Sarah Ruhl's "Clean House"
At New Rep

Next up at New Repertory Theatre is "The Clean House" by Sarah Ruhl. Performances run February 26 - March 23, 2008 at the Arsenal Center for the Arts in Watertown.

Praised for her work, Sarah Ruhl was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Featuring Nancy E. Carroll, Cristi Miles, Will Lyman, Paula Plum and Bobbie Steinbach, the production will be directed by Rick Lombardo, New Rep’s Producing Artistic Director.

In "Clean House," Lane and her husband Charles, a pair of busy, high-powered doctors, hire Matilde, a young Brazilian woman, to clean their home. The problem is that Matilde hates to clean; she would much rather spend her time thinking up the funniest joke in the world. Matilde makes a secret arrangement with Lane’s sister Virginia, who loves to clean. Soon, the pair begins to unearth the personal mess behind Lane’s supposedly pristine life.

Lombardo commented, “Working with such an amazing cast to bring this wonderfully theatrical play to life will be such a joy. Ruhl has gorgeously written a play that is quickly becoming one of the most popular of this season across the country.”
