"The Laramie Project"
Marks Tenth Anniversary
Of Matthew Shepard's Death

As a follow-up to its successful presentation of "Twelfth Night," Bad Habit Productions will present Moisés Kaufman's "The Laramie Project," from December 5 - 13 at the Black Box Theatre at the Boston Center for the Arts, 539 Tremont Street in Boston. The production will be directed by BHP Artistic Director, Daniel Morris.

"The Laramie Project" is BHP's second installment in its "Season of Truth and Perception," which will also include a production of David Ives's "All in the Timing" in April of 2009.)

Honoring the tenth anniversary of Matthew Shepard's brutal death, Bad Habit Productions' presentation of "The Laramie Project" openly explores the moment that forced America to confront its views on tolerance and forgiveness.

Taken from hundreds of on-site interviews in Laramie, Wyoming, and recreated by eight actors playing more than 70 roles, this compelling play questions the realities of truth and perception in human behavior.

BHP will be incorporating original music in its production, created by local musicians who composed their pieces as an emotional reaction to their understanding of the play. The company also hopes to collaborate with local charities to raise funds and awareness for the social issues the play addresses.

On directing this landmark piece, Daniel Morris commented, "Our aim with this production is to display each character's opinion without judgment and give the audience multiple perspectives on the event…We want to leave the audience with clashing viewpoints to think about after the play. We are sticking to the text and to honoring the words of the people of Laramie. After all, this play is about them, not Matthew Shepherd. Of course, Matthew is talked about, but the play is about everyone else and how they reacted to his death. If, at the end of a performance, the audience can see each citizen of Laramie as a full person, then we've done our job".

The production features Kate Bailey (previously seen as Karen in "Speed-the-Plow"), Tim Fairley, Michael Fisher, Lindsay Gonzales (previously seen in "The Dining Room"), Stephen Libby, Crystal Lisbon, Dave Sanfacon, and Anna Waldron.
