Harry For The Holidays

Celebrate The Season With Harry Connick, Jr.

We may have missed out on seeing Harry Connick Jr. in the pre-Broadway, World Premiere of the new Gershwin musical, "Nice Work If You Can Get It," when the entire project was scrapped, but Boston will still get a dose of Harry for the holidays when he appears at The Colonial Theatre for three performances only, December 19 - 21.

As musical theater fans know, Connick received a Tony nomination for his performance in Broadway's "The Pajama Game." His 16 city tour comes on the release of his new holiday CD, “What A Night! – A Christmas Album.” Prior to his Boston performances, Connick will appear at the annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in New York.

Connick’s approach to seasonal classics is fresh. With the support of his stellar big band, he brings the swing to “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” and “Jingle Bells.”

Recalling his hometown of New Orleans (“A great place to celebrate,” he notes, “but with the temperature at 60 degrees or higher, we didn’t have many white Christmases”), he gives “We Three Kings” a funk beat, turns playful on “Zat You Santa Claus?” and offers a bluesy “Please Come Home for Christmas.”

From the finger-snapping groove of “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas” and the majestic orchestral setting of “O Come All Ye Faithful” to an instrumental arrangement of “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies,” Connick finds new ways to bring new spirit and meaning of these classic holiday songs.

Connick has amassed a remarkable resume of achievements since his first Columbia album in 1987, including sales of more than 25 million albums, prestigious nominations in the areas of recording, theater, television and film, a critically acclaimed run on Broadway and a countless string of dynamic concert performances.

For tickets and information, stop by the Colonial Theatre box office at 106 Boylston Street, call 617-931-2787, or visit www.BroadwayAcrossAmerica.com.
