Come And Meet . . .
"42nd Street" at North Shore Music Theatre
An unknown chorus girl from a small town finds herself
a star on The Great White Way in the Tony Award-winning
"42nd Street," playing North Shore
Music Theatre in Beverly from October 28 - November 23. The
production will be directed by Charlie Repole with
choreography by Michael Lichtefeld.
With
music by Harry Warren, lyrics by Al Dubin
and a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble,
the show's memorable score includes "We're In The Money,"
"You’re Getting To Be A Habit With Me," "Lullaby
of Broadway," and ofcourse, the title number.
Based on the 1933 Busby Berkeley movie musical of the
same name, "42nd Street" tells the story of a starry-eyed
young actress named Peggy Sawyer who comes to audition for the new Julian
Marsh-directed musical about to open on Broadway. Although she can't
seem to stay in the good graces of the show's aging leading lady, Peggy
manages to catch the eye of the famous director.
On opening night, the difficult leading lady breaks her
ankle and the show appears to be doomed, until Peggy steps in to take
over the role. In only 36 hours, Peggy becomes a star!
Barry Ivan, NSMT’s Artistic Director
and Executive Producer, commented, "'42nd Street' is musical comedy
at its finest – a star-is-born story, spectacular design, memorable
musical numbers and outstanding tap dancing. It captures the spirit
of anyone who has ever pursued a dream, while keeping audiences thoroughly
entertained from the first note to the final tap.”
"42nd Street" stars Melissa Lone as Peggy
Sawyer. Lone recently played Maggie in the Tony Award-winning Broadway
revival of "A Chorus Line." Patrick
Ryan Sullivan stars as Julian Marsh, the role he played in
the show’s National Tour. Todd Lattimore, who
appeared in the 2001 Tony Award-winning Broadway production of "42nd
Street," plays Billy Lawlor, with Beth Glover
as Dorothy Brock.
The company also features Joel Blum, Susan Cella, Gary Lindermann,
Mara Newbery and Hardy Rawls -- with Cassie
Abate, Abby Church, Warren Curtis, Kelly Day, C.K. Edwards, Zak Edwards,
Adrienne Fisher, Rob Flebbe, Andrew Hodge, Matthew Warner Kiernan, Christopher
Lengerich, Brittany Lewis, Courtney Romano, Hilary Rushford, Dana Winkle,
Natalie Wisdom and Richard Riaz Yoder. Local
teenagers featured in the opening tap dance number include: Eva
Rae Costanza, Michaela Della Russo, Samantha Manson, Rebekah Nason and
Nicole Soriano.
