"Beehive" Buzzes Into Cutler Majestic
July 25 - 28

Big hair is back when The Cutler Majestic Theatre’s Master Series presents "Beehive, the 60’s Musical," from July 25 – 28.

"Beehive" is a light-hearted but high-energy tribute to the women of the 1960’s who made America rock. This first national tour of "Beehive" includes 45 wigs, 40 costumes and 40 of the greatest songs from the decade’s Top 40 hits.

Featuring numbers made popular by The Chiffons, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, Connie Francis, Lesley Gore, Petula Clark and others, "Beehive" spotlights everything from "The Name Game" and "It’s My Party" to  "Proud Mary", "Me and Bobby McGee," "Judy’s Turn to Cry," "To Sir With Love," "One Fine Day," "You Don’t Own Me," "R-E-S-P-E-C-T," "Where The Boys Are," "I Hear a Symphony" and more.

The cast includes Teanna Berry, Alicia Campbell, Patrice Covington, Kate Feerick (originally from the Boston area), Elizabeth Gross, Emily Portune, Courtney Washington and Jillian Nyhan Zygo.    
 
This production of Beehive, the 60’s Musical was originally conceived and directed by Gary John La Rosa, who has staged: "Aida," "Footloose" and "West Side Story" at Sacramento Music Circus; "Annie" at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma; "La Cage aux Folles" at Downtown Cabaret Theatre (Outstanding Director – Connecticut Critic’s Circle) and "I Love My Wife" at the Helen Hayes and Emelin Theatres, NY.  

His other credits include "Pins and Needles" at Jewish Repertory; "Another Day in Paradise" at the Triad and Zipper Theatres; "In My Dream…" at the Vortex (all NYC); "Smokey Joe’s Café" at Foothills Theatre, Worcester, and Theatre-by-the-Sea, RI; "Fiddler on the Roof" at WV Public Theatre (with opera star Spiro Malas), and the New Hampshire premiere of "I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change."

Also of local interest, the show's Hair & Wig Designer, Jason P. Hayes, is from the Boston area. On Broadway, he has worked on "Hairspray" and "Chicago." Recently he designed the national tours of "Smokey Joe's Café" and "Grease" as well as multiple shows for Papermill Playhouse in New Jersey.  Jason is also the Key Hair Designer for TV’s "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." His film credits include "Camp," "Party Monster", "Garden State," "TransAmerica" and "Shall Not Want."   His celebrity talent list includes such artists as Katie Couric, Macaulay Culkin, Dylan McDermott, Chita Rivera, Cherry Jones, RuPaul and The B52's.

This national tour is produced by Prather Entertainment Group of Fort Myers, Florida.  The company owns and operates three regional theatres in Pennsylvania, Florida and Arizona serving more than 500,000 patrons each year.
