New Rep Expands To Include Summer Programming
With "Side By Side By Sondheim"

New Repertory Theatre will present "Side By Side By Sondheim," an eclectic revue of Stephen’s Sondheim songs, as its first summer production.  Performance dates at Watertown's Arsenal Center for the Arts are July 7 - 22.

Celebrating the genius of one of Broadway’s most influential composer-lyricists, "Side By Side By Sondheim" features some of Sondheim’s best loved songs from such shows as "Anyone Can Whistle," "Company," "Follies" and "A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum," as well as some of his lesser-known songs that were cut from shows or never produced at all.  Also featured are some of the lyrics he provided for songs by Leonard Bernstein, Richard Rodgers, Mary Rodgers and Jule Styne.  The evening is tied together with a simple narration revealing interesting facts about the composer’s life and his shows.

Commenting on the company's expansion, Rick Lombardo, New Rep’s Producing Artistic Director, commented, "After a year of terrific growth, we are eager and excited to add a summer show to our season and provide the Boston theatre community with fantastic New Rep productions year-round"

Lombardo will direct  "Side by Side by Sondheim," which will feature Leigh Barrett, Andrew Giordano and Maryann Zschau.
