Chinese Spectacular Returns
To Boston Featuring a cast of more than 100 classical Chinese dancers, musicians, vocalists, and a live orchestra, China’s history comes to life in a captivating cross-cultural experience at The Opera House January 10 - 12, 2008. The Chinese New Year Spectacular is returning to Boston for its third year with a completely new production. The extravagant evening recreates the glorious ancient arts of the Tang Dynasty. Prior to the opening night performance on Thursday, January 10, there will be a VIP Reception featuring an exhibition of a dozen pieces of rarely seen Chinese paintings from a collection of 19th-20th century Masters. Presented by New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV), The Chinese New Year Spectacular is the largest staged celebration of the Chinese New Year in the world. Inspired by more than 5,000 years of history and tradition, the Spectacular is considered the most authentic cultural observance in the country. In 2008, the NTDTV Chinese New Year Spectacular is scheduled to play 120 shows in 50 cities worldwide. Presenting traditional dances, songs and the brilliant
pageantry of China’s Golden Age, the production captures the
true spirit of ancient Chinese divine culture. Each performance is
set against a series of vibrant rotating backdrops, ranging from the
snow-capped mountains of Tibet, to China’s pastoral green hillsides,
to a serene fairyland landscape. English and Chinese hosts will guide
audiences through the epic celebration. For tickets and information, stop by the Opera House box office at 539 Washington Street, call 800-954-4606 or visit ticket.ntdtv.com/boston. Tickets for the VIP reception on January 10 may also be purchased through the same outlets. -- OnStage Boston Production photo: NTDTV 12/30/07
