"Doubt" Coming February 6 - 18

Cherry Jones Reprises
Tony Award-Winning Role

Tony Award-winning Best Actress Cherry Jones is coming to Boston in the national touring company of the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Doubt," by John Patrick Shanley. Directed by Tony Award-winning director Doug Hughes, the production plays The Colonial Theatre February 6 - 18.

Set against the backdrop of a Catholic School in the Bronx in 1964, "Doubt" is the story of a strong-minded woman faced with a difficult decision. Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues . . . even if she's not entirely sure of the truth?

Cherry Jones (left) stars as Sister Aloysius, the role she created in 2005. Along with the Tony Award, she also received a Drama Desk Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, the Lucille Lortel Award and an Obie for her role.

Ben Brantley of The New York Times praised her work as "Extraordinary," while Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune said "Cherry Jones reminded audiences why Cherry Jones is Cherry Jones, which is an American actress for the ages."

An acclaimed stage actress, Jones includes among her Broadway credits The Lincoln Center Theatre production of "The Heiress," "Imaginary Friends," "Major Barbara," "A Moon For The Misbegotten," "Our Country's Good," "Angels In America" and most recently "Faith Healer."

She has also been seen in the regional and Off-Broadway productions of "Flesh & Blood," "Pride's Crossing," "The Baltimore Waltz," "Night of the Iguana," "The Good Person Setzuan" and 25 productions as a member of the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, including "Twelfth Night," "The Three Sisters" and "Lysistrata."

Veteran Boston producer Jon B. Platt commented, "I'm delighted to bring Mr. Shanley's thought-provoking and riveting play to Boston, and thrilled that more audiences will get a chance to see Cherry recreate her Tony Award-winning performance as Sister Aloysius on stage at The Colonial Theatre."
