Patrick Cassidy Dons Dreamcoat
To Star As “Joseph”

The magical rainbow ride through Biblical Egypt returns to Boston when “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” pulls into The Colonial Theatre for a two week run, starting November 1.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber - Tim Rice musical will star Patrick Cassidy (left) as Joseph, with "American Idol’s" Amy Adams as The Narrator.

Originally written as a 15 minute pop-cantana for a children’s choir, “Joseph” is based on the biblical tale of Jacob’s son Joseph and his 11 brothers. Combining pop, rock, country and other musical styles, the story follows Joseph’s rise to power after being sold into slavery by his brothers.

Patrick Cassidy is the son of musical theater legends Shirley Jones and Jack Cassidy and brother to pop idols David and Shawn Cassidy. His own career spans the world of stage, screen and television, including the recent Broadway revival of “42nd Street.” His other New York credits include “Aida,” “The Pirates of Penzance,” “Leader of the Pack” and the original company of Stephen Sondheim’s “Assassins.” Audiences have also seen him in “Longtime Companion,” “I’ll Do Anything” and “Crossing Jordan,” among others.

Amy Adams (left) was one of the ten finalists on the FOX series “American Idol.” She subsequently toured the country in a 50-city tour with nine of her “Idol” costars. “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” marks her theatrical debut.
