Stoneham
Theatre Stages Audiences first experienced Stoneham Theatre in December 2000 with a lavish production of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." Since then, more than 20,000 people have attended the production, which, in turn has become a holiday tradition like at many other professional theatre companies around the country. Performance dates this year are December 2-23. Having remaining unchanged for the past four seasons, Stoneham Theatre is reinvigorating its holiday tradition this year with the debut of a new musical adaptation of the Dickens' classic featuring fourteen original songs. The new adaptation has been produced just once before - last year at Northern Stage in Vermont. The production is adapted, directed and choreographed by Robert Jay Cronin, who has also directed "The Sweepers," "Tommy" and "Pete 'N' Keely" at Stoneham. He is joined by Angelyn Fullarton, who composed the original music, collaborated with Cronin on the lyrics, and will serve as the production's musical director. "We're really looking forward to sharing this with our audiences," commented Artistic Director Weylin Symes. "Bobby and Angie have created a rich, lively adaptation that's going to be a lot of fun." Audiences can expect Stoneham Theatre's production of "A Christmas Carol" to remain faithful to Dickens' original, with storybook scenery and costumes, joyful music, and spirited performances. In addition, Dale Place, who has played Ebenezer Scrooge for three of the past four seasons, will return in the role. The company will include Elizabeth Asti, Brad Bass, Neil Casey, Sarah Corey, Laura D. DeGiacomo, Andrew Giordano, Corey Jackson, Robyn Elizabeth Lee, Scott Marshall, Ceit McCaleb, Ellen Peterson and Bradford William Simanski. Members of the Resident Youth Ensemble and the young co. included in the cast are Mei Lu Barnum, Amelia Brady-Cole, Amanda Buckley, Molly Hagerty, Christian Johansen, Mary Mallen, Jennifer Marshall, Bryan Miner, Jason Muise, Liza Nagle, Abby Rose, Tony Rossi, Allison Russell and Siobhan Stimpson.
