"Aida" At North Shore Music Theatre

North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly is among the first regional theaters in the country to produce an original production of Elton John and Tim Rice’s Broadway smash "Aida." This new production, conceived and designed specifically for NSMT’s unique in-the-round stage, will run from October 26 – November 21.

Based on Verdi’s opera, "Aida" bursts with contemporary energy as it tells of the love triangle between Aida, a Nubian princess stolen from her country, Amneris, an Egyptian princess, and Radames, the soldier they both love. With an exhilarating Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning score, "Aida" marked Elton John and Tim Rice's first collaboration following their success with "The Lion King."

Aida will be played at North Shore by Montego Glover.  Ms. Glover won the praise of critics and audiences alike last season in performances of "Memphis" at North Shore and "Cookin’ at the Cookery" at Huntington Theatre Company. Brad Anderson, who starred in North Shore's popular "Smokey Joe’s Cafe," will play Radames. Brad recently finished the Broadway run of "The Boy from Oz," where he was both a featured actor and Hugh Jackman’s understudy. His other Broadway credits include "Fosse," "Kiss Me Kate"and "Damn Yankees."

Making her North Shore debut as Amneris, Janine LaManna earned critical acclaim for her starring role in Broadway’s "Seussical, the Musical."

The theatre will also offer several special event evenings. They include:

November 2: Meet the Theatre
A post-show audience discussion with the artists following the 7 P.M. performance

November 11: Out at the North Shore
An evening for the Gay and Lesbian Community with a post show reception;

November 13: Meet the Theatre
A post-show audience discussion with the artists following the 2 P.M. performance
