Hard Hat Concert
Provides Sneak Peek
At Opera House

As a sort of dress rehearsal for the new Opera House (which officially opens with “The Lion King” on July 16), Broadway in Boston is presenting “The Hard Hat Concert -- A Boston Vaudeville” at the Opera House on Monday, June 28. Show time is 8 p.m.

This special event, allowing personnel to get a feel for the new Opera House prior to “Lion King” loading in, will be presented in the format of the vaudeville shows for which the theater was originally built in 1928.

Linking the Boston arts community as a whole to the new venue, all performances for the “Hard Hat Concert” will be from local Boston-area theaters and organizations. All artists are volunteering their services for the night. Jimmy Tingle will serve as official host for the concert.

The roster will include performances and presentations by everyone from The Boston Ballet and the Handel and Haydn Society to the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus, SpeakEasy Stage Company, Sugan Theatre, Boston Playwright’s Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre, Overture Productions, New Repertory Theatre, Stoneham Theatre Company, Nora Theatre Company and Boston Lyric Opera, among others.

Special appearances are scheduled from “Shear Madness,” “Menopause The Musical,” “Forever Plaid,” “Jacques Brel,” Mary Callanan, Brian Patton and Hershey Felder.

Tickets for this One Night Only event are a steal at $10, with all proceeds benefiting StageSource.

For tickets, visit The Colonial Theatre box office, the BosTix Booth (either Faneuil Hall or Copley Square) or call 617-921-2787.
