Joan Rivers
Broke and Alone . . . In Boston!

Can We Talk?

Always a free wheeling force of nature, Joan Rivers is one of the hardest working entertainers in the world -- comedienne, best-selling author, Tony nominated actress, playwright, screenwriter, motion picture director, columnist, lecturer, syndicated radio host, Emmy award winning talk show host, jewelry designer, red carpet laureate, businesswoman and most importantly to her, mother and grandmother.

Now, the reigning Queen of Stand-up, is bringing her internationally acclaimed one-woman show “Broke and Alone . . . in Boston” to The Wilbur Theatre for an exclusive three show engagement April 29 - May 1.

Joan will be coming to the Wilbur following critically acclaimed engagements in Los Angeles, at the Edinburgh Festival, Theatre Royal Haymarket in London, and the State Theatres in Sydney and Melbourne.

The daughter of immigrant Russian parents, Joan created her own unique brand of irreverent unconventional humor to forge a remarkable rise to stardom.

Enduring humiliation for nearly a decade playing tawdry clubs and hotels, her career skyrocketed in 1965 when she appeared on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.” Within three years, she was hosting “That Show With Joan Rivers,” one of the first syndicated daytime shows. She went on to become the first solo guest host of “The Tonight Show.”

Her own “The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers” helped launch the Fox network in 1986. And in 1989, she returned to television with “The Joan Rivers Show,” winning an Emmy as Outstanding Talk Show Host along the way.

Using her stellar gifts of humor, compassion and tenacity has enabled Joan to triumph over personal tragedy and attain extraordinary professional success. In a brilliant teaming with QVC in 1990, she launched the Joan Rivers Classic Collection of fine fashion jewelry, winning an ACE Award from the Accessories Council and achieving unprecedented -- and continuing -- success with record breaking sales of $200 million, plus!

Consistently appearing on Best Dressed lists around the world, Joan regularly hosts live, red carpet fashion commentary for the Oscars and Emmys, accompanied by daughter Melissa.
