Lyric Presents "The Mercy Seat"

Lyric Stage Company of Boston continues its season with Neil LaBute’s controversial drama, “The Mercy Seat” from March 19 to April 17.

While the tragedy of September 11 frames “The Mercy Seat,” the play is essentially a love story. Specifically the more-than-once-told story of a woman who allows herself to become entrapped in a secret and unsatisfactory affair because her lover won’t, or can’t, make a break from his wife and children.

Directed by Eric C. Engel (who previously directed “The Lisbon Traviata” and “Morning’s At Seven” for Lyric), “The Mercy Seat” will feature Paula Plum and Robert Pemberton. Plum recently starred in Lyric’s production of “Private Lives” while Pemberton appeared in Lyric’s staging of “Lobby Hero.”

For ticket information, call the Lyric at 617-437-7172.
