Menopause The Musical
A Celebration of Women and The Change

The off-Broadway hit, “Menopause The Musical,” comes to Boston on March 31 for a limited run at the Stuart Street Playhouse.

A celebration of women who are on the brink of, in the middle of, or have survived “the change,” “Menopause The Musical” is a musical parody of life after 40 with all the challenges that result in the mental, physical and spiritual freedom of more than 20 million baby-boomer females.

The show chronicles the meeting of four women with nothing in common -- an aging soap star, a list-in-the-60s hippie, a power executive and an Iowa housewife visiting the city with her conventioneering husband -- at a lingerie sale at Bloomingdale’s.

They soon realize how much they really do have in common -- memory loss, hot flashes, night sweats, chocolate binges, wrinkles, plastic surgery, hormones and more. Featuring 26 re-lyricized 60s and 70s tunes, the production culminates with a high-spirited salute to every woman who has ever turned 50.

Conceived in 1994 over a bottle of wine and a major hot flash, “Menopause” was written by Jeanie Linders during the summer of 2000. The show has since played to more than one million people around the world. Productions are currently playing in Chicago, Miami, Orlando, New York and Los Angeles with a new company in Brazil marking the first foreign language production.

Performances are scheduled from March 31 to May 9. For information, call Telecharge at 800-447-7400, or visit the box office at 200 Stuart Street in Boston. Preferred member tickets are available exclusively through Show of the Month Club at 617-338-1111.
