Broadway in Boston
Offers Three Show Mini-Series

Broadway In Boston has announced an exclusive fall preview package for its upcoming 2004-2005 season. Patrons purchasing this mini-subscription package will receive tickets to “The Lion King,” The Abbey Theatre of Ireland’s production of “The Playboy of the Western World” and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Evita.” The full Fall season will be announced later this spring.

“The Playboy of the Western World” will be presented at The Wilbur Theatre from November 2 - 28 in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Abbey Theatre. The production will be playing an exclusive four city American tour including stops in New York, New Haven and Chicago.

In “Playboy,” a small town in County Mayo is thrown into confusion with the arrival of a mysterious stranger who claims to have killed his father. The new village hero seduces the town’s inhabitants, including the publican’s daughter. Just when things are looking hopeful, a second stranger arrives to reveal untold truths with unsettling consequences.

“Evita” will play The Colonial Theatre for two weeks only, from November 2-14. Boston will be the inaugural stop on a new national tour of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical which received seven Tony Awards.

“Evita” brings to the stage the larger-than-life persona of Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Peron. Blessed with charisma, Eva captivated a nation by championing the working class. One of the most popular collaborations between Webber and Tim Rice, “Evita” is best known for the song “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina.”

As previously announced, Disney’s “The Lion King” is set to open the newly refurbished Opera House in July.
