“Phyro-Giants!” at TheatreZone

More Of A Conversation Than You Bargained For

TheatreZone will present its latest production, “Phyro-Giants!,” at The Chelsea City from September 27 through October 13.

Set entirely in a hip eatery, “Phyro-Giants!” looks at four troubled souls looking to fill their lives with a mix of excitement and emotional safety. One long conversation about love, sex and infidelity, the backbiting gossip and banter take some wicked turns as the evening progresses and the empty wine bottles mount up.

Written by Michael Blieden, “Phyro-Giants!” was born over dinner with three friends at a restaurant in SoHo. The conventional gathering turned to one of remarkable self-revelation, and Blieden returned home to contemplate what had just happened -- and scribble down as much as he could remember. The play gestated for three years before opening in Los Angeles.

Blieden began writing and performing while working as a correspondent for Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.” He later worked as a staff writer on NBC’s “Everything’s Relative,” and appeared on “E.R.,” “The King of Queens” and “The Ellen Show.”

TheatreZone is currently performing at The Chelsea City, 173 Washington Street in Chelsea, having lost their space at The Actor’s Workshop (which is being torn down). The Chelsea City is a new art gallery/cafe created by the owners of Fenway’s Designs for Living. Adding to the realism of the restaurant setting, dinner or brunch will be served with each performance.

For information, call 617-887-2336, stop by The Chelsea City or Designs For Living (52 Queensbury Street), or log onto www.theatrezone.com.
