Huntington Theatre Company
Awards Writing Commissions to Four

The Huntington Theatre Company has awarded Stanford Calderwood Commissions to four Boston area playwrights -- John Kuntz, Melinda Lopez, Roman Noone and Sinan Unel -- to foster the development of new plays in Boston and to build an ongoing artistic relationship with local writers.

The Huntington Playwriting Fellows will become an active part of the artistic life of the Huntington over the course of the season. The Stanford Calderwood Fund for New American Playwrights was established in 2002 to enable the Huntington to commission new work from emerging and established writers.

The Huntington will, in turn, provide dramaturgical support for the writers as well as readings and workshops of the plays as they are ready. Additionally, the Playwriting Fellows will participate in audience initiatives, educational department programming and other Huntington events.
