In Holiday Food Drive

Discount Coupons To Be Offered In Exchange For Donations

Merrimack Repertory Theatre is expanding its service to residents of the Greater Merrimack Valley by partnering with the Merrimack Valley Food Bank for the First Annual MRT/MVFB Holiday Food Drive to help raise awareness of hunger in the area.

MRT will be presenting a $5 coupon to patron who brings a donation to the Box Office during the run of “Looking Over the President's Shoulder” by James Still. The coupon is valid for $5 off any adult single ticket purchase and may not be used in conjunction with any other discount.

The mission of the Merrimack Valley Food Bank (MVFB) is to help meet a person's most profound need - adequate nutrition and freedom from hunger. The Food Bank began in June, 1991, as a small program under the umbrella of Lowell’s Middlesex Shelter. It became its own entity in October of 1993. The MVFB solicits food from local supermarkets, food distributors and the community through food drives, then redistributes to those in need through a network of more than 90 non-profit charitable agencies which operate food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other programs.

MRT will have donation boxes available at the box office and in the lobby. Canned and other non-perishable food items are welcome, as are household staples and child-care products.

MRT is located in Liberty Hall, adjacent to the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, at 50 East Merrimack Street in downtown Lowell. For further information, call the box office at 978-454-3926.
